Ann Hammer was born in Groningen, The Netherlands , 25th of May 1968


Ann started singing and dancing at the age of six, playing the piano and writing music. During her youth she appeared with various pop bands in the music scene in Assen (Netherlands), in which Cuby and the Blizzards, Kaz Lux, Herman Brood and Jan Akkerman were well-known names. At that time she was a regular member of a session band in which all kinds of musicians from the area could participate.

In the meantime she attended a cabaret course with the singer and artist Marius Monkau. She took singing lessons in Groningen and performed in the theater '' De Oosterpoort '' Groningen, theater '' De Kolk '' Assen as well in pubs, or festivals.

At the age of 25 she left the north of Holland to complete her study in "Singing, Light Music - Soul, Pop, Jazz, Rock,  Musical". She graduated at the Conservatory of Music in Rotterdam 4 years later.  

During her stay at the Conservatory of Music she took singing lessons from well-known artists including Coco Yorck and Gerrie van der Klei.

This was followed by master classes with Deborah Brown, Jerry van Rooyen, Willem Nijholt, Dee Daniels, Arranging courses with Frans De Berg and Lex Hakker, piano lessons with Wouter Van Rhoon and Jazz History with Ruud Kuyper.

She has worked with well-known composer Louis Andriessen in his famous composition "De Tijd", conducted by Jurjen Hempel.

During and after her studies she performed with the Tango Orchestra '' Otra '' led by Leo Vervelde, in the Musical Show 'Zapp', Dance Soul Show '7eventy7', with the jazz / blues singer Curtis D'Arby, with one Pop / Soul formation led by Herman Voigt, with the rhythm & blues band 'Phil James & the Flames', with the guitarist Maurice Rugebregt, with bass player Bas Kistjes, with the drummer Jean Claire De Ruwe, with drummer Ares Lux, with various Pianists, including Johan Clement, Jan Willem Van Delft, Marc Van Den Beemt, Paul Maassen, Daan Van Den Hurk. , 'Piano Pete' Budden.

 

After the conservatory she regularly took further education with: Deborah Carter (well-known artist / jazz singer www .deborahjcarter.com ) and Jeroen Manuhuttu (well known and who introduced the Sadolin Voice Training / Complete Vocal Technique /CVT in the Netherlands http://www.jeroenmanuhutu.nl/CVT.htm ).
 

Ann Hammer her vocal range is alto and soprano, so that she can be used anywhere from jazz to soul, from musical to tango. Because of the variety and variety of colors in her voice, she is sometimes compared to the singer Rachelle Farelle.

 

She is currently singing solo as a freelance artist / jazz singer .

 

She sang in '' Vocal Jazz Trio Once '' for 15 years. With '' Vocal Jazz Trio Once '' she appeared in the series of concerts of the "North Sea Jazz Around Town" in Rotterdam and in the "DJS in Dordrecht" (Jazz Podium Dordse Jazz Stichting).  For '' Vocal Jazz Trio Once '' she arranged, among others: '' Beyond The Sea '' / Charles Trenet, '' Beginners Luck '' / Gershwin en '' Someday My Prince Will Come '' / Morey-Churchill.
